Kshema have crafted an eclectic mix of musical genres with a common thread – portraying the survival of the human spirit through hardship and adversity. From the ethereal musing of Schocker’s Nymphs, to the denial of Mower’s Fictions, through to the resolute driving rhythms of DeAngelis’ Running, the uniquely expressive vocalizing of the flute captures the soul’s journey through despair, joy, suffering and ultimately to tenacious survival.

More coming! Nymphs is a lyrical work which colourfully displays the sprightly Nymphs. The melodies are shared equally between the four voices using a variety of articulations and time signatures to explore light and shade. Running is an exciting contemporary piece with latin overtones. It features driving and interweaving semiquavers layered with complex rhythmic textures. Here We Go Again is a modern jazz ballad which explores rich, clustered harmonies and showcases the bass and alto flute. It features jazz techniques such as slides, flutter tonguing, back-tonguing and glizzandi.
